The medical intervention team (MIT) is a public utility association, founded in 2009 by the plastic surgeon Dr. Julia Berkei and the otolaryngologist Dr. Barun Sarkar, both from Frankfurt. Experienced plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists, oral and facial surgeons, anaesthetists and dentists have teamed up to help needy people in developing countries and crisis areas. The team has chosen to be active at the Sitagu Ayudana Hospital in Sagaing Hills, Myanmar. It is located near Mandalay. The small and simple clinic is included into the complex of a Buddhist monastery and is maintained by the monks. During their services helping children is a matter very close to the doctors' hearts.. Cleft lip and cleft palate are widespread problems among children. Until now, most cases could not be treated in the clinic because –like throughout the whole country - the medical supply is not sufficient.

How can you help?

Up to now the team members pay most of the costs by themselves. However, in order to keep up the project on a long-term basis, we need financial and material support from sponsors. We would be very happy if you supported us with a donation. As a charitable organization, we would gladly receipt your donation.
